Year of the Unicorn

Valmion walked through the gardens of Questrion Manor, taking in the fresh morning air and the thoughts of what this new year would bring. The last month had been one of turmoil for Questrion, yet out of it all, those that remained loyal were standing their ground against Dalamar's tight reign on the duels. With this upcoming weekend, Questrion had a chance to strengthen it's position in this rebellion, as it was being called. Three nights, three
duels involving members of Questrion.

Friday night he would start the weekend off by meeting the Baron Faline in his challenge, followed by Huma's defence on Saturday evening and Moralitors, Sunday night. Yes Valmion thought to himself, it was be a defining weekend in this so called rebellion. He himself had made a decision that he had not thought of for somtime, and should he win on Friday night, it would pursue the plan he had in mind.

As he made his way past the front gates, he nodded to the guards who both respectfully bowed to the Lord of Questrion. His thoughts then went to his son briefly, noting the message he had recieved this very morning. One duel with Team Phoenix and already protests were flying, Valmion smiled with the thought. Like father, like son, he mused to himself as he headed down the walkway and up the marble stairs to the front doors of the manor.

The guards at the doors opened them as Valmion passed through into the manor, nodding to each of them respectfully as he does, the doors then closing behind him. Questrion Manor was quiet this first morning of the new year, a new year that would, at the least, put those duelers from Questrion to the test. A test that Valmion was looking forward to.

The morning of his second challenge for a barony, found Valmion relaxing in the tavern of Questrion Manor. He sipped at his coffee and pondered the rapid rise in events that surrounded the Arena. New warriors appearing from other realms, claiming the quest of a barony. The three Questrion challenge matches this weekend and then Seraph's challenge to the Baroness Kaprielle.

The Lord of Questrion had been following the words spoken in the challenge to the first ring, and found some of it distasteful to him. Even thought, as with his first challenge and now with his second, he was somewhat gaining a reputation as the Dark Lord of Questrion; he had found in the matter of this challenge he had to side with the loyal Baroness. Should Seraph somehow manage to unseat the Baroness Kaprielle, one of Questrion might have to
focus on another renegade.

He finished the cup of coffee and a servant brought him another, pouring it with a respectful nod to the Lord of Questrion, then moving back behind the tavern bar. Other matters found themselves into Valmion's thoughts this morning also, as he sat back and relaxed some more with the fresh cup.

Arlingond's debut with Team Phoenix had been a success from what Valmion was hearing, though he had not spoken to his son since he took a room at the Red Dragon Inn. Reports from Questrion agents had him shopping the day away yesterday, purchasing garments that displayed the Phoenix Crest. The words only brought a smile to Valmion, as he knew his son would grow under Daegarth's watchful eye.

Then he thought about his friend Thorgrim, and the Retribution faction. It seemed that Thorgrim was more following Adonai Uziel than moving on his own accord, and knowing the rebel in the dwarf, he understood the luring appeal Adonai's plan had on Thorgrim Battlehammer. He smiled once more as he sipped the coffee, for it seemed that even though they split from Questrion, the Retribution faction could prove to be an ally in the fight against
Dalamar. Time would tell, but he understood many of those that sought power within Retribution, and their reasons for desiring it. For know he did not perceive them as a threat, but he had agents paying close attention to their moves.

As he finished the second cup and gesturing to the servant that he did not wish a third, Valmion turned his thoughts back to the challenge this evening. He would be meeting the Baron Faline, a very skilled and worthy opponent. How would he open the match he thought, as he never thought about any match past the second round, as he knew that his instincts would carry him the rest of the way.
