I believe this shows the reason for the disagreement. This policy does not have any bearing on a duelist "eligible to challenge for a Baronial seat." If the duelist's desire to challenge is hinged solely on whether he can be a Neutral Baron in the way he thinks he should be allowed to, I would hardly think anyone would say he should be challenging in the first place. Rather, this policy is pertinent solely to duelists holding the rank of Baron.
Therefore, all those who ever *needed* to be privy to the information were made aware of it. Anybody else who *wanted* to know if I had a policy and/or what it was would have been welcome to ask or discuss the matter with me.

much to my dismay, simply want title to be a higher rank or have more fanciful defensive maneuvers. For these people, Neutral is the perfect choice. If anyone declares Neutral, and then acts in a manner that (and here's the important part) *I consider* Renegade or Loyal to the throne, then their alignment will be adjusted appropriately. Dalamar, please correct me if I am wrong, did not Helix say that the rules do not allow the realignment of any Baron of any alignment to any other than Renegade by the Overlord? As I have read the rules myself, they would seem to say such. That the Overlord can align a Loyal or Neutral as a Renegade if he sees fit. He cannot realign a Neutral or a Renegade Loyal, however.
If I am wrong, someone tell me. This is what the rules say, however. It was, also, the official opinion Helix passed down some time ago. or so it seems.

Please do me the favor of refraining from taking offense from morgue humor....its a standard joke amongst the small crowd of self thinkers I circulate in....nothing more.
It basically comes from a general feel that the Overlord does not feel most of the populace is worthy of title...and does what he can to impede them at all costs or remove them in the same fashion.
By the way old dwarf.....don't you have something better to do than this? Like mayhaps appraising Lord Golden of you acceptance and possibly conjuring up a date for a match? You might want to as we have already given you more than the allotted time given any Baron as far as respondence and acceptance. Whether you choose to believe it or not....I've been more than or even overly respectful of you....please attempt to do me the same by at

One would hope that any that sought the title of Baron would have considered the ramifications of that title as well as its responsibilities. One would also think any that challenged for such a title would seek out the Overlord and the standing Barons as well as perusing the history and the ancient cork board lest, of course, the one seeking the title, seeks for his or her own aggrandizement and considers a Baron's Ring merely a bauble.
