I knew this would happen, that if I decided to challenge and made Baron that the witch hunt would begin to discredit me. Do you think I am really stupid enough after all the years I have preached about people challenging properly that I would go and make an illegal challenge?

I will simply state this once for all of you to hear as my official testimony to this issue, when I released my official Issue of Challenge to the officials and the Baron's Council the current Standings that would make all my peer wins legal was already released for public viewing. I needed the Standings to insure I had addressed all the current Baron's Council members properly. I sent my challenge out on the 9th of June as part of celebrating my
six years of dueling anniversary which is that date, the Standings were released on the 8th for public viewing by when I saw them.

I would suggest that those who do not duel, shut up and duel before commenting on those of us who do and decide what to do with our careers. I would suggest that those who find fault with me being a Baron of Swords, shut and duel to get the needed qualifications to challenge me for my title. Otherwise, I'll be in the ring or trying to do what I feel is best for being a Baron of Swords.

A challenge is made official by the letter sent to the Standing's Keeper, not by the posting upon the public boards.
If it were otherwise, many challenges indeed would be invalid... as the challengers chose not to post, much less notify the other Barons of the Council.

It was not meant to be a witch hunt, E. The matter was brought up, and if the peer wins are indeed invalid, then I think things should be rectified. As I told Drake, there was no question as to your competence or integrity. At the moment, I'm more concerned about making sure no rules have been ignored. It is with this that I hope there is no condoning of such actions.
If it was brought up that the standings were not out when another challenged, I am sure you would want to make sure that things would be fixed.

Var,

I would as well if the Standings Keeper and the one who challenged who are both very much aware of those types of issues and are pretty apt with following what they believe in and inform the public as to what happened and that nothing wrong happened, I would leave it at that.

Baron Ecore.

I have said my piece, that is all that is required.
I believe Daelin is away, returned to his home realm for a time.
I am certain the Supervisor will make his ruling known to all parties involved, should he decide that a ruling is required.

Since this is concerning me, I guess I shall speak up.

This was first brought to my attention by my good friend, Cletus Ganderfald. Anyway, I didn't think much of it then. Drake had validated them so I assumed it was ok. Looking back, mayhaps I shouldn't have been naive..but like Drake says, I'll wait for Goldendust to make a ruling before any further course of action is taken by myself.

Listen to your sniveling selves.

Sniff sniff, he defeated ten different warlords/barons/overlords and he spanked Dae for the ring, buh-buh-but when he sent his letter challenge, his most recent PW wasn't up on the standings for all us dumbies to see, so we need ta take away his ring, even though Mr. Well-Know-And-Respected-Thrice-Baron earned it in every right and Ms. Standings Keeper verified the win, because we can't accept this wee insignicant technicality. Waaaah.

As much as I'd rather not, and as much as I respect the attempt at holding by the rules of the sport....

I agree. Elijah won. It's his ring. If you take that away from him simply because one of his wins (a VALID win, mind you!) wasn't posted until a couple of hours/minutes/seconds/whatever after he issued the challenge...well, I'd say that was not only vindictive, unfair and petty, it's also just not right. In fact, it's rather contemptable. Sure, I'm all for making sure it don't happen in the future (if, indeed it happened now, which is still very
much up to debate), but Ecore still WON the ring fair and square. He got his wins, he met Dae on honorable terms and he beat him fairly; as witnessed by the Official and verified by our Standings Keeper. If, for any reason, Elijah loses his ring, or even has to re-duel for it, then somewhere along the lines fairness and justice dropped by the wayside in favor of petty rule-mongering.

Feh.

Here's a bit of an extreme scenario but it gets my point across. What if..... the challenger beat up the Baron badly the day before the match and then walked all over him in the match itself because the baron was weak. The Challenger won and it is his ring but is it fair? Because of all the whinners here, the challenge rules were enforced strictly for awhile back. If one person gets a ring taken away for invalid challenge than others following should
not be special cases. No offense to Elijah or Dae, I'm just makin a point.

Simini found answering this one to be as easy as simply cutting out a part of the Official Rules and tacking them onto the stack of parchments, also no signature needed:

"All challenges and answer to challenge must be sent to both the Standings Keeper and Baron or Overlord being challenged for purposes of notification and validation."

Falablah outlined a previous point exactly. If we bend the rules for one, then others will be having the rules bent for them. Yes, if Ecore sent the peer wins an hour before the standings were up, then the next person will submit the peer wins two hours before, and pretty soon rules we made for the rings will be ignored.
If the time of the challenge issued doesn't matter in this case, just scratch it from the rules, saying that the peer wins no longer have to be posted. If people really perceive this as petty and whiny, then it would just save us all the grief if the rules followed the previously stated criteria.
As a matter of fact, I am planning on challenging Morn'lythe soon. What if the time frame between my challenge and the posting of the standings was longer than whatever time frame there was with Ecore's challenge? What if I did it a day before? Where is the line?
That's my point. Take it as you will.

First,

Though I beat Dae for the ring, I wouldn't call it a spanking, and it was done with an honorable fashion and by the rules.

Second,

Why is everyone trying to ruin my momemt simply because I won and I cut it close, though legally, in making my challenge? If you want to debate the merits of challenges and legalities please do it in a different set of posts. The Seventh was won by my hand legally and without taint regardless of what others may say. Your bickering about technicalities that were never violated and whining about the ability of the staff and other duelers abilities
to follows the rules is taking away from the moment of history and of pagentry of Swords, and of my own personal career.

Third,

If you seriously got that much of a problem of me being Baron take care of it the old fashioned way. Get your sorry whiney arses in the ring and duel and come for me, I'll be waiting for you with Draco in hand. I am not giving this ring back, I am not retiring it, and I am not throwing it away because of the petty crap that continues in this Arena of Swords.

I am the Guardian of the Seventh, just and true by the laws of the realms, and so I shall remain until someone forceably defeats me for the priviledge to be it's Guardian. Until then, use your blade more then your mouth and you might actually get somewhere and might actually get some respect for it too.
