Okay, Var...
Here's a solution, and it's even got a precedent:
If you really want to punish (and I use that sarcastically) the evil, vile and treacherous action of the BARON of the seventh, then why don't you censure him.
Heck, you could even fine him 10,000 gold marks.
Seems pretty fair to me.

<<Second,
Why is everyone trying to ruin my momemt simply because I won and I cut it close, though legally, in making my challenge? If you want to debate the merits of challenges and legalities please do it in a different set of posts. The Seventh was won by my hand legally and without taint regardless of what others may say. Your bickering about technicalities that were never violated and whining about the ability of the staff and other duelers abilities
to follows the rules is taking away from the moment of history and of pagentry of Swords, and of my own personal career.
Third,
If you seriously got that much of a problem of me being Baron take care of it the old fashioned way. Get your sorry whiney arses in the ring and duel and come for me, I'll be waiting for you with Draco in hand. I am not giving this ring back, I am not retiring it, and I am not throwing it away because of the petty crap that continues in this Arena of Swords.
I am the Guardian of the Seventh, just and true by the laws of the realms, and so I shall remain until someone forceably defeats me for the priviledge to be it's Guardian. Until then, use your blade more then your mouth and you might actually get somewhere and might actually get some respect for it too.>>
You rule!!
I've never seen anyone stand up to the Whiny Bunch like that before!

Apparently, Aerenth, you do not follow the point I was trying to make. Why draw the lines when people are welcome to step over them? Just wipe that rule out of the book if it is that meaningless. We'll go back to having people challenge with hour old peer wins. I suppose that shouldn't bother me, because if that's what happens, I can challenge a few days earlier without waiting for the standings.
But who cares anymore? We've seen all the challenges. Why can't we all just accept them as they come? I know my reason: I couldn't forgive myself if I stood by and watched rules be broken in the arena I love to duel in.
If you want to shove more words in my mouth, go ahead. I have already said that I did not question Ecore's integrity or competency, as I also said to Drake. I was hoping that any wrong would be made right. All I can do is wait for Golden's ruling. In both cases, my feelings were spoken, and spoken with pride.

I took Raiyko's ring from him only a few days after he was released by the slavers. It may have had something to do with the way he dueled. The fact that he challenged Kappy for the ring and took it probably had alot to do with me going ballistic on him during the match also.
Agree or disagree with the whole 7th ring thing...Just challenge him and take it if it really bothers anyone.
Hopefully soon, things like this won't be a problem anymore either way.

This whole argument is actually pretty stupid. Whether the standings were posted or not, the Peer Win was Valid, was claimed to be valid and verified by the Keeper of the Standings, and nowhere in the rules will you find anything that states that the Standings must be posted for any and all to see before a win can be verified. Nowhere.

Dem,
The rules of engagement clearly state that all ranks and earned maneuvers are retained until the new standings aire presented unta the public. Until such standings are placed afore the public tis nae a thin' what shows that th' challenger dost retain the rank and bona fides where in ta offer challenge unta annaone. For in that the challenge may hae lost standing an' therefore anna earned bona fides wouldna be valid. Tis a simple premise, laddie
buck, mayhap to simple fer thee ta comprehend.
Further tis clearly stated "Peer wins are not legal for use in issuing a challenge until posted with the weekly standings". I should think that wouldst be clear enough for annaone ta understand. If said challenge ist offered prior to such, the challenge ist clearly invalid.
This issue continues ta rear its ugly head. The new Baron, Elijah, hast writ that the standings were placed afore the public upon the eighth day of the six month. I do hearby state categorically that that ist nae so. Master Evermeadow himself made it verra plain a long while agon what didst constitute a valid challenge. Tis seeming that the warlords feel free to flout the rules of engagement. Whyfore does the Council of Baron stand silent?
Madame Jaycynda Ashleana didst present such invalid challenge for the third ring, and now the Seventh Ring ist held in the same manner. The current baron, Elijah, didst earn his first ring tainted by his questionable victory in the Tourney what named the Original Nine Barons. History dost indeed repeat itself.

Jonalyn,
The only controversy around here is the one you weave and manipulate. For years I have watched you bad mouth me, call me a liar, try to ruin every moment of my career. My first ring is only tainted because you believe it is, though I know I won it true to honor and fairness. I never used a 5th fancy, it wouldn't have scored anyway, and I still beat her convincly because I know how Amaltea dueled very well then. Its not my fault an official
called a 5th in which I immediatetly corrected during the tourney, in which the move didn't score anyway. When I wrote my challenge letter the morning of the 9th, I had to use the 6/8/99 Standings to figure out who to properly address the challenge to among the Baron's Council. However, it seems something is amiss since I am not listed upon the Standings as a Baron. I hope it was an honest mystake on Gryphn's part ot I am wondering why no one has
contacted me about the situtation from the staff.

Gryphn assured me it was only an honest mistake and that I am officially a Baron.
I have long been a champion and a stubborn torchbearer of the old customs, traditions, pagentry, and history of the old days, and preaching how duelers should at least follow the written rules, if not alot of the unwritten rules. I know what I believe in and I know what I practice in are one in the same, and I stand by my statements and swear upon the Seventh by my words.

Wins are posted to the standings before the standings are posted to the boards....like I said before...nowhere does it say that everybody in the DoS has to have seen the standings for them to be validated.

Indeed? Aire thee meaning to imply that every duelist from warlord unta commoner then must seek some way to obtain this sort of 'secret' infermation? An interesting premise. What must the challenging warlords do to obtain this 'secret' infermation, or must they simply 'guess' that the standings aire available, must they 'guess' they aire still ranked, must the challenged Baron or Overlord 'guess' that the bona fides were properly earned? An
interesting premise, particularly since the duels aire placed afore the public at the same time ast the 'official' standings.
Elijah spews his usual denials ast to his earning his first ring. His memory fails him mightily, though one may expect such I should nae wonder, considering his head wast severed from his shoulders that eve afore manna witnesses.

Well, Jona, yes, if you had 15 WoL last week and weren't sure if you still would be a warlord the next week, then I suppose waiting to see the standings before you challenged would be a good idea....otherwise, nobody needs to guess about anything. If E challenges its not your business to decide whether or not the peer win is valid, its the Standings Keeper's business, and job. If the Standings Keeper has the Standings to
validate the win, then the win has been posted to the standings by the Standings Keeper and the win is validated MAKING IT USEABLE IN A CHALLENGE MATCH. Thank you so much for your informative argument, but I'm sick of hearing it.

Take a healing potion or simply dinna read. The Standings Keeper indeed ist to validate the bona fides, howe'er, the warlord ist required to present proper challenge. The standings seemed to hae been available to validate the bonafides, howe'er, Elijah himself didst claim the standings were available upon the eighth day of the sixth month, and they werena. He himself didst state that the bona fides were declared valid some time much later.
Between the time he issued challenge and the time the bona fides were validiated, the standings became public and nae upon the eighth by common reckoning. Perhaps the new Baron might wish to cease his contradictions 'o his own jottings. Perhaps thee thineself might take the time to peruse the rules of engagement. Perhaps thee might make inquiry of Master Evermeadow ast to precisely when the official lists were placed for public view.
Tis disgusting indeed that the warlords are such cowards that they fear scrutiny of their challenges, whimpering and whining much ast the curs what prowl the piles of offal strewn outside the ancient inn.
