Not to get embroiled in a duel of words here, but I think I understood well what Ally was saying, metaphors inculded. I would not cast asperations on anyone's intellegence, grasp of rules, language or understanding. My point is this~~ in saying the ring was stolen in legitimately validated match with an official caller who witnessed and validated the
match is rather heavy because her favorite in the match lost. There have been times that a friend of mine or simply to one I favored has lost a challenge, I still would never consider the title stolen. All duelists can be beaten on any night, that is a known fact. Even those with the best of records have been bested. Feeling that one will be a better Baron over the other is a personal conviction, but to accuse one of "stealing" the ring as though it
was taken from his hand by stealth and trickery is a bit too much. Regardless of whether Drey puts about a false face or not, which I know he does not, saying he "stole" the ring in any sense *is* slanderous seeing that his peer wins were in order and have not, even by Lupton, Ally and others, been questioned,the challenge was approved, witnessed and verified by an official caller, fought and a final result came of it. Eros and I spend much time
talking to and enjoying Drey's company. And there have been several conversations regarding this particular challenge. And for those of you who would whisper, yes, no matter who had been slandered in this manner, I would still feel the same way and still speak out. Honor and a personal code of ethics would require it even had these things been spoken of someone I dislike intensely. Though, dispite what one or two might feel, there is no one I could
put that title to.

You, dear Myst, have understood nothing if you continue to treat a metaphor as literal. Perhaps you misread and thought I wrote "literal/academic device." An easy mistake to make, I suppose, though I thought most adults knew a metaphor was anything but literal.
Run along now, and let me know when you understand the difference. Until then, perhaps it might make you look better if you stuck to commenting on things that require less thought or comprehension.

Whether Ally meant to directly accuse Drey of stealing the ring or whether it was a metaphoric insult is beside the point. The insult was made. The remark was, in my opinion, uncalled for however it was meant. The remark, along with the one (not, as Morgan said 'most') reply to the remark calling Ally a 'baby', makes an excellent example of some of the root problems with the Duel of Swords and our community here.
I have respect for Lupton and his ability. I dislike him strongly, and I was glad to see him lose. However, I respect him. He has earned it. Drey has earned at least a modicum of respect here, as has Ally. Both of the insults made were truly insulting to no one but their writers.
What has happened to sportsmanship? Those who have earned their positions are worthy of respect, and dislike or even hatred should not mar such respect. We don't have to like each other, but we should remember when putting our thoughts into writing that insults are best made face to face and that offering insult here instead, through sterile ink and paper, is not the bravest of actions.

Before this, I had no issues with Ally or her opinion. While Morgan's right in saying that with what I know of Ally, about her being clever, I find her insults to Drey's grammar and his friends to be very immature.
If she wanted Lupton to win, that's up to her. I have my own issues with Lupton, yet never did I attack Ally for wanting him to win. While I cannot speak for Percy (I'm using him as an example because he voiced he had issues with Lupton, as well), I am sure Percy does not think less of Ally for wanting Lupton to win.
Then again, that's just me. If she wishes to speak with metaphors, then surely there's no problem with comparing her behavior to a child.
