Rix and Lupton learned the duels on their own, and then at one time I was their Mentor when they joined House Lathadoscia to help strengthen their already developed skills. One of those two was a mistake, one of those two was a friend lost to that mistake.

The woman chortled softly as she caught little Marcus holding the door open, mouthing "Mister Nova, who's too old for this....", she gave the youngster a warning look, eyes twinkling, "Hast th' elder been grousin' agin?" She wandered to the cork, a slender hand rifling through the missive. She paused now and then to shake her head, set quill to parchment, then tacked the note to the cork.

Baron Drey Starke,

Perhaps in future thee shall nae leap to assumptions. Thee hae yet ta prove thine worth ast one who now bears the burden of title and ring though thine skill with blade I dinna question. Mind thee dinna further insert an appendage in thine mouth for thee may find the taste bitter and difficult to pass through thine gullet. Perhaps also in future thee may look to wiser associations, Baron. Thine comment that Ally couldst in anna way sully thine
small reputation speaks quite loudly. Thee and thee alone hae the ability to sully thine reputation, Master Starke, nae annaone else. Tis by thine own deeds that thee shall rise or fall, Baron, nae by the comments made for thee or agin thee. A simply matter of opinion, Master Starke, and thee leap to the conclusion that Ally St Reynolds be prejudice?

Mystik Talesedrin,

Tis it ne'er ceases to astound me when a personage fails to take their own advice. Perhaps thee shouldst indeed take thine and cease attempting to involve thineself with politics, annawhere. If thee consider an exchange of opinion ast being bickering and squabbling, perhaps thee shouldst ponder eschewing perusals of this ancient cork and take to lady's tea or garden parties. Thee may perhaps invite some of the lesser wits ta join thee and protect
their oh so sensitive sensibilities. Thee may e'en consider an outing to the marketplace, perhaps there thee canst acquire a dictionary.

Ally St Reynolds made her opinion known, assuredly quite colorfully, verra intelligently and most certes she wast clear in that t'was her opinion. She certes canna be held to account if those of lesser wit canna grasp that. I can but hope that thee, Mystik, hae little influence upon those what enter the basement. Whyfore one shouldst challenge one they admire for a ring ist an interesting premise. Whyfore wouldst not one challenge one whom they
wished to remove from holding title? Rest assured, some are remembered for the honor they didst bring to the title and unto the duels. Rest assured also some are remembered for the dishonor they hae done unto ring, title and the duels. Thou do presume that the Baron Starke shall honor the ring and title he dost now bear. Tis thee hae shown a modicum of intelligence only in that thee hae chosen to withdraw from the discussion.

Ally,

Lass, methinks a survey ast thee hae proposed wouldst be right enlightening. That ist permitting that Pol hae given up his penchant for making claims to be the master of the Universe and all he surveys. I hae yet to discover which universe that be. Tis perhaps Pol might wander afield with Mystik in search of a dictionary or perhaps a scribe of intellect. Perhaps the Rhydin Middle School ist yet taking applications for students.

Baron Var Medici Giovanni,

I hold thee as friend, and do understand indeed that thee hold the new Baron, Drey, ast friend as well. Ne'er hae I been one to judge another by their associates. Perchance thee hae forgotten, yet I must make correction of one of thine comments. The warlord Lupton dinna officially retire following the duel thee mention. Lupton hae a penchant for what ist oft referred ta ast a 'dry wit'. Friend or nae, the new Baron ist newcome to his title and
ring, only the future shall mark his reign ast being notable or simply another name in the history. By his words and deeds he shall be known both in and out of the ring.

Morgan

Lass, ast e'er, well said. Though by now thee certes hae reached the opinion that thou may be dealing with the unarmed. Indeed, tis been within mine hearing that the Baron Starke didst misspeak with regard to comments he alleged hae been made by Lupton.

Percival,

Your grace, whilst the title ist worthy of respect, nae always ist the one what holds title also worthy. In the long history of these ancient rings, there hae been some what didst dishonor the ring and title ast well ast bring dishonor upon themselves.

Dustin,

Mind thee anna scurrilous comments upon the first holder of the Sixth, Torquillan Aspendale or upon the knight, Percival the Chaste, shall nae sit kindly with me. Moreover just who be thee to decide what thee terms 'stupid' or irrelevant, laddie buck? Thee might take thine own advice ast well and think before thee take pen ta parchment.

Pol,

Methinks Morgan simply made an observation with respect to thine intelligence, an observation with which I tend to concur.

Andrea Silverthorn

Kindly dinna let the door smack thee on thine arse ast thee depart, moreover, mind it dinna smack thee in the head. Thee seem scatterwitted enow ast tis and the door takes much abuse what with Billy oft slamming it open.

Jake

Gads, I see thee hae gotten inta the blue crayons agin. Do run along and return them and thineself ta the nursery. Ast to babbling like a simian, Jake, thee hae nae lost that ability atall.

I was well a Warlord when I joined the House I later opted to destroy.

I've never referred to the Highlander/Demon/Knight/Prince/Monk/Rogue/Whiner as my mentor.

I absolutely cannot resist it. I just have to make a comment I would usually prefer not to make and that I generally chastise others for making. Yes, I realize that I am way out of line. However, I have to say it.
Simply put, I am touched by Lupton's loyalty to his former friends and comrades. I hope his newer set of friends and comrades take some note of it.

I never threaten your wife, and I believe you did address me many times as Kempai within the rings.

Please clarify, for I am very confused. I remember when Lupton was baron of the ninth ring, he faced a que of challenges: Baphelocutis and Gloria Blaze.
Baphe's reasons were because Lupton destroyed HIS house, and, according to Lupton at the time, it was Baphe who threatened to eat Lupton's wife or something.
Just when you think you understand a confusing situation, it gets more confusing.

Wandering past the cork, Andy spies a paltry response, and reads it *very carefully*, just to make sure that she's *not* illiterate.

Reading perfectly, she shrugs, heading to the lockerrooms, muttering quietly to herself about two cents and all that...

The only one I ever had loyalty to that I "betrayed" was Baphe, which is who I referred to earlier.

I think Lup is forgetting to mention that he's talking about Baphe.

Monsieur de Clermont,

Unless you have intimate knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Lupton and House Lathasdoscia - more intimate knowledge than I - then I suggest, for all concerned, that you refrain from comment. An intelligent person such as yourself should recognize this topic to be a white-hot coal of problems between the two and not risk fanning it, lest this entire cork catch flame.

I know you do not have such intimate knowledge. That reduces your comment to nothing more than unprovoked, opportunistic vituperation of someone for whom you have already publicly pronounced your dislike. Your acknowledgment of being "way out of line" is irrelevant.

I would hope, sir, that those that may wish to support any of your future attempts to hold title would take some note of it.

Simini,

While your my Swordsister, perhaps it is you who needs to be careful where you tread on this issue, because obviously your biased being involved with someone of this issue who's bed you share.

Perhaps I was defending *you*, Elijah. Read it again - there is no "obvious bias" whatsoever. I offered no opinion of my own *because* I have insufficient information.

If you had provided the information when it was requested, perhaps I would have something more to say than a request for others to stay out of it in order to prevent another tirade. But you didn't and I don't.
