::reads it:: Alright darn it you can say my name. I have done it before. Gone after only peers that is. And it was only for 2 days of dueling that i was serious about it. And only because i wanted a 10th peer win. I duel anyone and everyone. I will use my fancies, but only becasue i earned them, I try to use as few as i deem nessesary, but i would
use them on a commoner. Rude you might say? I don't think so. When i started as a commoner I dueled anyone, I didn't care rank what rank they were or if they would use fancies on me, it is all part of the game. I am back to my old ways of dueling anyone and everyone and I will use my fancies if I start to lose. Thats just my .05 cents.

::laughs::
This is recurring discussion that comes up every few months.I agree with Valimon and Ecore, I will duel any that ask me ta duel no matter what the rank.
When I was a commoner and workin my way up the ranks I would duel any, but I also preffered dueling the higher ranks because I seemed ta do a little better with them. Now as a warlord I lose most of the time when I duel commoners.
As far as fearing the uncommon commoner noway it is something that is pointless ta worry about I have been scouted a few times this way that I know of and have even done it myself a few times...but people will scout you in many different ways so there is no need ta worry more about one way then the other...::Rereads some of his post::Hmmm...kinda drifted inta diff subject, heh...well the jest of it is i agree with the whole thing Valimon and Ecore
both stated.

I do not understand the notion of commoners who are not really commoners also known as the infamous Warlords in Disguise.

Do Warlords disguise themselves to look differently so they can fight in cognito? How can one tell if a warlord is in disguise? I always had thought if I faced a commoner with skill that perhaps s/he learned the way of the blade elsewhere but were simply only new to our particular version of the sport.

Why would a warlord want to fight as a commoner? Does their rank shame them?

I hope one of these disguised warlords will come forward to help me understand the reasonings for doing this.

If one wants to be technical, I'm not a Commoner. When I left a while ago, I gave up my rank and record and informed the standings keeper I would not be reclaiming them, even if I did return. I have no intention to reclaim the record that I gave up. It is no longer mine and, if I am worthy of it, I will fight my way back to it once again.
Many of the Warlords know of my former rank. Those that don't, I am sure to inform when I duel that I am no longer a Warlord. Should a Commoner request a duel, I inform them that I was once a Warlord. I consider each duelist a challenge no matter their rank.
Perhaps, when a Warlord fights as a Commoner, they are fighting not for rank but for recreation or the challenge of once again attempting to rise to the Warlord. I still don't consider it easy, despite those that claim it is.

Have warlords disguised themselves as any other rank besides commoner?

Nova, I do not think you disguise yourself when you announce you were formerly a warlord, so I am afraid you are not a good example of being a Warlord in Disguise.

Warmly until you get within my reach and then I will poke you firmly in the side,

I am no warlord but ever the grand mistress, it seems. At any rate, I gladly duel commoner and Overlord alike, man and monster, with skilled maneuvers or no, in the ring, on the floor, outside, in the rain...

Well, I suppose you get the notion. In any case, were I ever to become a warlord, I doubt any of that would change.

Let the challenges commence.

>>I do not understand the notion of commoners who are not really commoners also known as the infamous Warlords in Disguise<<

Morgan,

I don't understand the concept either. Moreso, I find the mention of such or suspicion of it rather paranoid. Or possibly an excuse? Maybe some Warlords just don't want to risk their reputation against a Commoner because they feel like losing to a 'nobody' would humiliate them? And they know that anyone can beat anyone at any time if all the wheels turn just right?
Certainly something to think about.

Percy

((Author's Note: The notion of 'Warlords in Disguise' and 'sandbagging' is an OOC issue folks. To the best of my knowledge, none of the players who use alts for the purpose of such 'sandbagging' play those alts as their primary char in disguise. The examples that come to mind all play secondary chars as just that, unique and individual chars. Mention of 'Warlords in disguise' or 'sandbagging' is therefore blending and should be avoided. I don't mean
to insult anyone who may have mentioned it, just trying to point out the fact. Unless someone actually plays an alt screen name as their WL char in disguise, their char *is* a real Commoner even if the player has a WL char.))

Let's get this straight.

To give a sample situation, let's say there's a Warlord in the Arena asking if anyone is willing to duel. I have seen a newcomer say they were willing to duel that Warlord, yet that selfsame Warlord will instead ask his peers for duels.
In another sample situation, where there's a Warlord in the Arena asking if anyone is willing to duel at the same time a lower rank duelist is asking if anyone is willing to duel. When another Warlord walks in and hears both offers, they will invariably ask to duel their fellow peer... even if personally approached by the lower rank duelist.
The situation becomes worse when the lower rank duelist is a newcomer to the Arena... so often many of our "elite" duelists will virtually ignore anyone they do not know.
Until these matters are addressed, I doubt the majority of the Warlords will ever have a good reputation among the lower ranks.

For the pure joy of it Morgan, I am one of those warlords, I don't wish to state which name it is I use for this. As for why. It is rather simple, I enjoy dueling as a commoner, so many more people will duel you just because you are one.

>the act of a Warlord asking a lower rank to duel, or accepting a general
>offer to the room of a lower rank to duel, was considered bad etiquette.

That is what ta Val say, and it be ta way I be taught. I never think ta challenge below me, it be seen as bad form.

For those that read it, well they read it. All know of the man's absence from the rings, yet the note does find its way.

Simply, I will duel whoever asks me, with the exception of one time. I find I win more against my peers, than I do against lower ranks. But, that's more because I like using my skill. For me to do any less, brings my game down.
The situation? There are times I will have dueled 2 or 3 commoners in a row. In that case if another asks me, I often say no. Mostly because I want to flourish it up a bit, because that's where I find my enjoyment.
