So, my next question would be... Is the ring truly destroyed or is it going to mystically reappear? People reappear often, even after their bodies are incinerated and their ashes sprinkled over the Great Inland Sea, is it to be so with a ring. Ah, ..or was the destruction of the ring just a symbolic metaphor? At who's convenience shall this incidence be
rectified?
And how about adding this to the rule book while we're at it. "Deliberate destruction of official Duel of Swords property shall be punishable by a public stoning."
Ah'well.. a brass-balls maneuver tempered with stupidity indeed. Life, and the sport, goes on of course. With what shall the bucket be fixed my dears...
Quite a way for a moderately insignificant Baron to go down in our history books... putting an abrupt end to the chronological list of 8th barons. Its not such a terrible idea really. Ending the 8th's family tree would only serve to make having held posession of it more significant. An endearing memory of sorts for the lucky few who had the opportunity where no future duelist can follow.
We make history, or we make history memorable. Just a thought.

The ring was crushed. From what I've heard, the person who forged the rings is repairing the eighth now. Of course, even if the ring was destroyed, we all know this is Rhydin, where the impossible is possible. In this land, people die and come back to life, chlidren are born days after conception, and broken items end up fixed. These days, there are satanic angels and heavenly demons; killers who faint at the sight of blood and butchers who
frown when they see an animal die. What's so inconceivable of a ring simply being repaired?

Or shall we destroy the other twelve rings and make rings from numbers fourteen to twenty six to make the holders of the old thirteen rings more legendary? No, destroying the eighth ring, along with the other ideas mentioned by me above is stupid. It's beyond terrible.
While we're at it, why don't we burn down the arena, so then it would have only made dueling in the rings more significant?
Not a terrible idea... Lord, the last thing we need is to actually make light of the utter destruction of something sacred.

Lady Starfare is currently seeking the original crafter of the Ring, while I am seeking the crafter of the more recent rings. It is my intention to see the Ring re-crafted using the remains of the old, much as a broken blade will be melted down to be reforged anew.
While your thought that the Ring not be remade is a valid one, I for one refuse to allow the dishonorable stain to be the last name attached to the Ring held by so many honorable duelists.
It should be noted that the Council does not have the power to ban someone from the duels... They do have the power to request that the Staff ban someone from the duels, however.

Hmmm, I accidentally broke my barons ring one time and was told by one knowledgeable in it's creation that they were magical and could and would repair themselves by the time a new holder came into possession. So there's no need to be worried for the rings safety itself. Furthermore I found out that the two rings I owned to take the appearance I wanted when I first aquired them. When I owned the fifth ring I was having some...shall we say,
personality problems. Multiple ones actually. I don't know how it happened but the fifth ring always appeared as a mood ring, flashing my personality swings and changes, on my finger until I lost it Draven.
Meth should be gutted and staked on an anthill though.

With all the magic users we have in this place, all the powerful entities, sorcerers, druids, heavenly creations, who can tamper with the untamperable (like the Ward, scoff) I have some questions.
Who is/are the brain trusts who let him get that far? Was everyone put under some sort of delusion spell?
So, if I understand this correctly, there is enough magical ability to spirit away the remains, barring anyone from tampering with the ring further, despite the fact that as far as anyone knew the rings could not be destroyed, but no one had the forethought to either a) recognize that if it was truly destroyed, it was a fake, or b) magick the ring elsewhere so that it could not be tampered with further?
What is this place coming to that someone as inept and classless as Methous could send everyone scurrying around without a clue?
Who knew it would be so easy to destroy the rings? It is as if this place is nothing but a flimsy sham, a charade, if something like this can happen.
I would think that the Inn, by extension of the Arena, in its sentience and omnipresence, (not to mention the power of the Ward) would have had the highest magic and power to bar anyone from such vandalism.
Perhaps I can devote five minutes to conjure up a spell to destroy all of the rings since it was so easy to simply destroy one. If Methous can do it in front of such powerful people, despite the power of the sentient Inn, then anyone can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.
Riiiiight.

While I will grant it's possible for the ring to be a fake (the thought didn't cross my mind, but I will grant it's possible), you seem to be so much into your own world of "nothing can be broken" to realize that the arena is far from omnipotent.
Give me an unbroken Ring for the Eighth station, which was never repaired or created aside from the one years ago, and I will give you a pat on the back for figuring it out.

1. Yes, Methous wrote a note expressing the match be rescheduled.
2. Aspen read this note 5 minutes before the match was scheduled. ((I do believe more ample time should be alotted and acknowledgment acceptance by the other duelist should be noted. This was not done. ))
3. Amazingly enough, Methous showed up at 9:52 to the Arena, 52 minutes after the scheduled time. He did not offer any explanation as to why he stated he would not be able to attend, yet he did.
4. Yes, Methous asked Aspen if he wanted to go ahead and duel now, by this time it had been decided between, Skall and Aspen, that it would go to Council!
5. Aspen stated that he would not be able to duel for about two weeks after the date scheduled, meaning Mehtous knew it would be difficult for Aspen to duel any time after the date scheduled.
6. Yes, I spoke to Apsen, as did others that night in the arena. Yes, we did give him advice but the choice was still his.
7. Nothing Aspen did caused Mehtous to act in the manner which followed, where upon a Baronial Ring of the DoS was literally destroyed.
I stand by my actions that night and would advise Aspen in the same manner. Methous has treated this Challenge as a joke from the start! The Baron did not even have the manners to do his share of preparing for this match!
A Baron is to represent the honor, skill, and attitude we look for in the Duel of Swords, this is not the manner in which the newest Baron of the 8th has shown.

When a baron disappears and the ring becomes forfeit, how do you think the ring can be passed on if the person who wears it is not in the realm?
It is because the rings are tied to the Inn, which is a living, inviolate entity. As far as it should be concerned, the only being that can permanently alter or destroy a baronial ring is the Inn.

That Methous sent LrdNrmglde in his palce and instructed the Warlord to duel in his stead if he did not show up.
We all know that a Second can not duel in place of the duelist unless the duel is already in progress, though Methous himself sent someone to do just that!
