Ladies and Gentleman of DoS,

I appologize for not posting the individual voting behind these two situations. It is actually better if each baron voices his and her on thoughts on this. As for my own.

The Second.
I voted for a rematch. When the majority of the council voted for a champion I decided to abstain rather then vote on something I didn't really agree with.

The Eighth..

I voted to strip Meth of the ring, I based my choice on his actions. Yes, we were asked by the Superviors not to take that into consideration, I'm sorry I couldn't do that. That was actually a major factor in my choice. As for Aspen, I voted he be returned his peer wins. He did nothing wrong by the rules. He has stated time and again how he doesn't want the ring, as Meth has as well.
If Aspen challenges for another ring, I hope he is prepared for all that will surely come with that.

Is this some kind of threat we are supposed to quiver in our boots?

A note is left, bearing the usual signet.

"The staff is determining the oaf's fate?

Fine. I humbly suggest he be taken into custody and chained in a cell, where Oakenshield and I - and, indeed, any other holders of the Eighth - might impart our opinion of the matter upon him most forcefully. Repeatedly. Painfully.

Alas, I fear such a fate shall not come to pass... though the temptation to impose such a punishment without the assistance or support of the sport's officials is great. Great indeed.

With more righteous anger than any save Oakenshield might even comprehend, I remain,

Ian Rex."

Seem to me that all announcement were made on standings paper.
Standings paper say Baron of 2nd is stripped of ring, council is making decision.
Standings paper say Baron of 8th not show up, council is making decision. well, say was challenge for 1st ring, is mistaken.
Standings paper say LordGunthr win challenge for Overlord, is now Overlord.
Liu think person who do standings paper need to check numbers better next time, but all names still there, still right.
Was much more information than when Liu started dueling long long ago. In old days, usurry not have much information at all, just who win, who lose. Still miss old days when Stephen beat Xenograg for Overlord.

::raises an eyebrow at this::

Dear Barons: Thee choice to strip the baron despite being requested not to take into account the lout's actions, was, to put it simply: Very bad form. The managment of the game has more right than any of thee to choose what should happen to the worthless cur. I agree that he shouldst have had his title stripped, but it was not thee place to do it.

As to Aspenminds, hath he done some things that upset thee, did he break rules? I agree that he should have his bona fides, and right to challenge, but he should also have had a waiting period before he could challenge again. 2 months until he may challenge again would seem an appropriate amount of time for him to learn that which he did not when he challenged for the ring. Hast none of thee thought that mayhaps the cur known as Aspen challenged said
Baron because he did not this that the Baron should ever have a ring to wear again?

Signed,
Humbly, This time anyhow,
Bret

Bret,
I have a few words in response to your well thought out post.
While it is entirely possible for the council to impose upon Aspen that he waits, I personally feel it should not be done for a few reasons. First of all, namely, he didn't break any rules. That's a given. The other reason is a bit more complicated, so please bear with me while I try to make my feelings clear.
As a council, we should try not to let our emotions cloud proper judgement. We are not here to preserve the moralities or honor of Rhydin; we're here to keep safe the integrity of these ancient halls. I've realized that as often as I argue with others on the boards, I cannot impose my personal honor on people; some who I hold in very high regards have a different code. To punish people for not adhering to my personal feelings, despite the
fact they handled the challenge properly, would not feel right. As of now, the council is to look at the rules that were broken, evaluate the circumstances, and pass a vote.
If the role of the council changes so we should use our emotions as justification for our decisions, then that is how I will do my job. Until then, this is how I do mine.

Bret,

There were a few factors in my reasonoing. Methous was declared in forfeit. That was the first factor. The second factor was his utter disregard for the challenge. The third factor was his desecration of the ring. The fourth and final factor was him saying he did not want the ring anymore.

Those are the reasons I voted to strip him of the title.

And we were not told to not take into account his actions, but to not vote on a punishment such as banishing him from the duels. That is what was left up to the staff. We simply decided what to do with the ring, and not with Methous.

::carefully reads both posts over before setting down his own response upon parchment::

Baron Rix, Baron Var,
I hath no personal problem with your own thoughts upon the matter, they are quite on the mark for what hath transpired. Upon reading things previous to that which Baron Rix was so good as to point out, I had thought that you had not heeded the staffs request. I doth agree that what the worthless cur did is more that worth banishing from these halls for all time, but that is, and was left to the staff. I'm truly sorry if I have offended you, or your
honor.

Var, as to your thoughts about placing your own code within other peoples ways is put elequently. Congrats.

Signed,
The Ranger Drow of Rhydin,

I would've liked to have seen a rematch myself. AJ had nothing to do with the challenge match, just a former holder of the ring.

Just my opinion.

The Baron Favre has the right of it.

The Council was asked to deal with Methous as they saw fit, save for the actual punishment for his willful destruction of the 8th Ring.
The Council punished Methous for failing to show for his duel, and his other disrespectful and unhonorable actions... The Staff punished Methous for his destruction of the 8th Ring.

I would have liked to see a rematch myself, Drey. However, if a champion is appointed, and one has, there is no better choice than Ajay. If one really wants the 2nd ring, I think that they should *have* to duel Ajay for it. I realize that it is only my opinion, but in many ways the 2nd still is and always will be Ajay's ring. No one ever took it from him.

>>The Staff punished Methous for his destruction of the 8th Ring.<<

Have they actually punished him yet? I would be most interested in hearing the details of their decision, if they have. I think it should be made public. It would be a very useful example to others of Methous' and Aspen's ilk.

Methous, if you ever do grab another ring I will challenge you right away or as soon as possible. To have you defile all the rings the way you defiled the one.....
Please just go away and don't come back.
