I am one to duel anyone who so asks.
Yet at most times 'tis the lower ranks that don't wish to duel warlords based on the fact that a tittle may seem to intimidate them. I am one to duel and try to aim for better skill and knowledge of this game and by doing so i challenge those above me. Yet that does not mean that i will send anyone below me away. On the contrary as i was a beginner i yearned for knowledge and skill of this game to me dueling the higher ranks was a challenge
that i would often set for myself. That is the way that one would learn more about the game and about the higher ranks.
As a beginner i was given a chance and just as so i give a chance to those below me. I am to respect all ranks just as i was respected from a beginner a mere title does not truly prove skill. Yet there are those who duel and prove to be skilled in defeating a warlord, baron or any one of higher rank.
* Of those that duel there are those that respect the duel and the honor of being fulfilled by their request.
* Ye we also have those who get too cocky and take it to their heads.

Hmmm... if you duel a commoner and gain his win what would one call that??
cheating??
gaining rank by the less experienced??
would it be one to be pitied by?

Or would you as a warlord or Baron give the chace to those below you and allow them to test their skill against you?
Would you respect them and honor them with the Duel??
Would you respect their skill if they have defeated you??
Would you loose respect for them if they take it way over their heads??

Never say you are open to duel unless you are open to duel anyone who asks.
If you are a Warlord, say so. If you wish to duel only peers, say so. Otherwise, expect to be asked to duel by most anyone.
If you are of any ranks at all, say so. If you wish to duel only those who hold the same rank as you, say so. Otherwise, expect to be asked to duel by most anyone.
Simple, clear and to the point.

Some tend to forget dueling is a highly competitive sport, or game, and as all sports with such a great number of characters entering and leaving the community for a great deal of years, it has a rich history and certain traditions are to be kept and honoured, along with a great many legends; but it's just that, nothing more. No one gets paid for owning a baron's ring; they gain a sense of
pride, accomplishment, or whatever they take as individuals from taking part in the sport, as all players in all games and do.

I've always looked at it the same way since the very first duel I fought in the arena.
Higher ranks should never offer challenge to anyone more than one rank beneath them.
Those of lower rank should feel free to request a duel from higher ranks, but should expect the higher rank not to insult them by holding back.
If I request a duel of a baron, and they are kind enough to honor me with one, I feel insulted that they must limit thier abilities in order to face me. I think that's insulting to me to have to be babied by the house rules, and insulting to the title Baron to have to sink to such coddling.
If you're lucky enough to have a higher rank agree to face you, you should at least get your money's worth.
It's ok.
