Xerzes~
People do things to try to make themselves look better than others. "Siddie Poo" is her way of demeaning another person in an attempt to do just that. I highly doubt it's sexual, but hell, I could be wrong.
It's been a long-standing notion in many cultures that people who have an incessant need to tear down others are, in fact, insecure themselves. Perhaps this is true of her, perhaps not. Who knows?

"I do not claim this to be the State of DoS, yet the case is not wholly dissimilar. Avery is gone. Yes, all efforts need be made to discover his whereabouts and to insure his well being. Yet, I would propose that those Barons loyal to the community and the sport, have a perceived duty to see a leader put on the proverbial throne."
This is a point I have been struggling to make clear, Kalamere. Thank you.
Duty to the sport required solving the problem Avery's absence caused the sport.
Duty to Avery required remaining loyal to him as a person, outside the sport.
Those Barons who remained Loyal managed to fulfill both duties, as regretful as they may have found their duty to the sport to be. One Baron, on the other hand, demonstrated that he is never to be trusted again with a claim of loyalty, as he has NONE to any person other than himself and his family.
Regards,
Ian Rex.

Kal,
My problem with this situation from the start was that Avery asked Val for the extension instead of asking his opponent. I can't speak for Var, but my personal feeling on this matter is and has been that Avery's request should have been directed to Drey, instead of over Drey's head and to the Supervisor.

Thank ye, Ian. This has been the point that I've been trying to make to certain people who would call us (Cas, Dae, and myself) betrayers.

I just have a couple of things to say here. First of all, I want to thank Ian, for his posts have echoed everything I've been trying to show the members of the Community who are unwilling to listen to reason, and hold grudges that are now years old..
Anyway, to echo Ian, I would suggest that maybe you, Jonalyn should learn all the facts befor you start railing into anyone..The only people who tried to mention Avery's physical well-being were Baron Maximius, Baron Ganderfald, Baron Taelca and myself. Secondly, after repeated attemps by the four of us above, the rest of the Council even refused to discuss this subject. You are the one who mayhaps needs to go back and read m'lady. My letters to the
Council clearly reflect my feelings on this issue. If you would like, I could send you some copies ot help you find them easier. If caring for the well-being or capacity of the person I have sworn my Loyalty to makes me a backstabber or an opportunist and calls the mobs to form against me, well...I'm sorry to say I don't want to be a part of this place anymore.
Lastly, on the matter of precedence. I suggest anyone who questions my motives to read this part carefully. As we all know, Avery held all 3 Titles in all 3 sports. When his title of Archmage was challenged in the Island, he didn't show up..which first caused me to question his well-being. Shortly thereafter (about the same time he sent the letter to Drey) he passed the title to the challenger, Melgarth Mithmellon. Obviously, whatever dire
circumstances Avery was in he figured he would not be able to resolve in time to defend the seat of Archmage, but may be able to in time to defend the seat of Overlord. Unfortunately, I don't know what has happened..and that's the irksome part..but he was not available to defend, or send another letter. Now..given his actions in the case of defending the Archmage title, I firmly believe Avery would have possibly done the same here. My decision stands
firm in what I needed to do for the sport and what I believed my Overlord would do in my place.
Secondly, were you not at the challenge in which Baron Starke gained the Thirteenth, Madame Starfare? I believe you were. Do you recall what I said when Drey claimed he would challenge Avery? You may not..but I'll refresh your memory..I told him that to get to Avery, he'd have to pass through myself and 'Warfare' first. Plus, for someone that has never asked for intercession from an Overlord I was Loyal to, and coupled with the above fact..I would
hardly say I was cowering behind his shield.
Question my motives or Loyalty if you wish, Jonalyn. However, you can't just dismiss the above facts, because they are true and many will attest to that. They speak my reasoning, therefore...whatever you have to say, I would refer you to them and my previous letters I spoke about, your questioning carries no pain toward me..for I know where my heart lies, and I know the source from which the challenge comes.
Have a nice day.

Baron Dragonsblade,
Yuir facts be a bit skewed wi' regard ta th' matter 'o th' title 'o Archmage. Ah wast present 'pon ta Isle th' eve, sir. Avery nae appeared ast thee hae penned an' ta one known ast Mystik didst pronounce th' th' Lady Dansantes Evermeadow wouldst permit seven days ta pass in 'opes th' Avery's whereabouts couldst be ascertained.
Wi' th' passin' 'o time an' seemin'ly wi' nae word 'o Avery's whereabouts, ta title didst pass unto Melgarth Mithmellon.
Ah ask thee, Baron, ta produce th' so called letter from Avery which thee hae stated wast sent unta Master Starke. Indeed, Ah shouldst verra much like ta peruse th' phantom letter wh' Master Starke hast claimed ta hae received from ta missin' Overlord.
Further, Baron, on ta matter 'o precedence, tis been three instances where ta title 'o Overlord wast voluntarily retired. Th' 'o th' former Overlord, Falcon Vernick, th' 'o ta former Overlord, Gnimish Gnimoi an' th' 'o ta former Overlord, Agrenish Preescot. I shall point out ta thee, Baron, th' durin' ta absence 'o these Overlord's ta sport dinna fall inta disarray.
Tis Ah hae learned t'was ta Baron, Unagi Miyamoto wh' didst propose placin' a champion in ta path 'o Master Starke ta defend ta title. Tis mine understandin' th' 'e wast ta only Baron wh' put forth th' option afore ta Council.
Therefore, Baron, despite thine claims made th' eve when Master Starkes didst gain ta thirteenth ring, tis seemin' thee dinna put forth ta option 'o placin' a champion in 'is path, sir, bu' chose ta strip Avery 'o ta mantle. Therefore, Baron, Ah indeed do question both yuir loyalty an' yuir reasonin'.
Baron Galin Cassius Gaius Maximus, ta same dost apply unta thee, sir.
M'lord Ian, M'lord Kalamere,
Gentlemen, do take notice ast well 'o those Barons wh' hae publicly decried agin Master Starke bein' permitted ta opportunity ta succeed ta th' mantle, an' yet hae stated th' they shall nae meet their peers in ta comin' Tourney 'o Barons.
Further, gentlemen, precisely wh' problem dost thee perceive bein' presented wi' ta absence 'o Avery Shiv Blade? Though certes ta question be now moot, forein ta Council hae seen fit ta declare ta title vacant.
If tis the stance ta th' title shouldnae remain vacant fer ta good 'o ta community an' fer ta good 'o ta sport, wouldst nae also consider th' since ta title shall be filled by one 'o those wh' currently 'olds title ast Baron, th' those Barons, an' in particular those Barons wh' saw fit ta depose ta Overlord Avery Shiv Blade whilst declaimin' agin Master Starke an whilst claimin' their acts where fer ta good 'o ta sport an ta communty, wouldst then
likewise stand forth in combat agin Master Starke in ta comin' Tourney?
M'lord Kalamere, though Ah am in agreement wi' thee th' perhaps th' Barons be undereducated an' impressionable, ast well ast sufferin' from ignorance, Ah do opine, th' such ignorance an unawareness in those wh' do bear titles dost th' community an' ta sport a disservice.
Tis a few 'o ta Barons hae already expressed their regrets fer th' decision they hae wrought. How verra convenient ta express such after th' fact. Tis though th' Baron Var Medici-Giovanni didst oversee ta council an' didst put forth various options, yet, sir, thou shalt perhaps notice th' neither ta Baron Dragonsblade, nor ta Baron Cassius Gaius Maximus didst support ta option 'o a champion bu' chose instead ta depose ta Overlord unto whom they
hae made their pledge 'o loyalty.

Lady Jonalyn, DoS Community,
Normally I keep from such political discussions, but in this instance I seek to correct an apparent misconception. The Supervisory staff of the Duel of Magic did, in fact, receive notice of the former ArchMage, Avery ShivBlade's wishes regarding the ArchMage Challenge. As was stated in Lady Dansantes Evermeadow's statement tacked for all to see on the Isle cork dated the fifth day of the fifth month of the common calendar. In the missive to the
involved parties, he stated that he had been rendered unable, due to unforseen circumstance, to defend the title of ArchMage of Twilight Island. It then followed that his wishes were that the victor of the ArchMage Tournament of Challenge be named as ArchMage, this also agreed upon by Lady Dansantes and so was written and proclaimed.
Yes, the eve of the scheduled challenge, I did indeed render the decision that the challenge delayed and stated that Dans had granted a seven day for word from Avery. Yes, the title was passed to the victor of the ArchMage Tournament of Challenge, Lord Melgarth Mithmellon. However, it was not done so without due course or word from Avery, as has been implied. I am assuming that Drey's missive from Avery was received on the same date that the
Supervisory staff of the Isle received word. For it was that day that Drey posted notice that his challenge to Avery for the title and mantle of Overlord was to be delayed.

To the Twilight Island Community,
From the ArchMage Avery Shiv Blade's own hand, I have received word that he has been rendered unable, due to unforseen circumstances, to participate in the defense of the ArchMage title. By Lord Shiv Blade's own wishes, and with my
concurrance, as Lady of Twilight Island, there will hereby be named a new ArchMage of Twilight Island. By our decree, let it be known that the winner of the ArchMage Tournament of Challenge held last week - Lord
Melgarth Mithmellon - be bestowed with the surpreme honor of the title ArchMage.
I do hereby ordain that Lord Melgarth Mithmellon be the ArchMage of the Duel of Magic with all the rights, honors and priveleges therein, including: The Right to the ArchMage throne; the Right to have his visage rendered by the best artist and to have said portrait displayed in the Hall of the ArchMage, until such time as he should lose the title through Challenge as established in the Rules of Engagement of the Duel of Magic.
Let this decree be known throughout the lands.

M'lady..if you wish to present a logical argument to rebuttal whatever mistruth you may feel about myself or my motives. Please use facts to substantiate it..it works quite well actually, because it wouldn't be a logical rebuttal if it had false elements in it, would it?
Have a nice day.

Mystik,
Tis well thee normally keep yuirself from political discussions. Perhaps thee shouldst make th' a more firm 'abit.
Perhaps thee might wish ta take ta time ta peruse ta missives 'pon th' cork an' ta official lists ast well. Master Starke's challenge, if'n Ah am nae mistaken wast re-issued an' validated 'pon ta twenty seventh day 'o ta fourth month an' apparently answered an' accepted by ta Overlord 'pon ta fourth day 'o ta fifth month. Hae it nae been answered by ta fourth day, t'would hae been at th' moment considered an abdication 'o ta title.
Ta official standin's 'o ta duels didst announce ta match wast ta take place 'pon ta fourteenth day 'o ta fifth month, an one may opine th' ta date hae been agreed 'pon t'wixt Master Stark an' Avery Shiv Blade. If'n t'was nae anna such agreement t'wixt Avery an' Master Starke one mus' ponder then if'n Master Starke chose th' day unilaterally an' hae nae apprised ta Overlord, Avery Shiv Blade.
Ye may also take notice th' ta official standin's 'o Swords wh' didst contain ta announcement 'o th' date whereupon Avery wast ta meet Master Starke were made available after ta failure 'o Avery ta appear fer ta Archmage Tourney. Master Starke then placed a missive 'pon ta cork announcin' a postponement 'o th' match.
If'n ast well Ah am nae mistaken, ta date wh' Avery nae appeared fer 'is challenge 'pon ta Isle wast ta eighth day 'o ta fifth month. Therefore, one may conclude th' ta missive 'o which ye speak wast sent afore th' match.
One may then ponder, from ta sequence 'o events, why Avery made nae mention nor provision in 'is missive ta ta staff 'o ta Isle wi' respect ta 'is pendin' challenge wi' Master Starke. Or one may also ponder th' Avery didst in fact make mention unta Master Starke an ta official 'o ta Isle an' th' word wast nae sent unta Master Valentine Evermeadow an' ta Barons. Ah meself do find ta latter premise ta be one wi' little merit.
Ast certes thee shouldst know, makin' assumptions oft places ta one doin' ta assumin' in a position where in one be merely makin' a fool 'o oneself. Tis Ah believe th' notice 'o ta delay 'o Master Starke's meetin' wi' Avery wast placed 'pon ta cork well after Avery hae nae appeared fer 'is challenge 'pon ta Isle an' afore ta Lady Dansantes didst pronounce Melgarth Mithmellon ast ta new Archmage.
One then mus' wonder why th' ta official lists wouldst carry ta announcement ast well ast one mus' wonder who didst apprise ta keeper 'o ta standin's th' ta match wast set fer ta fourteenth day. One may also ponder ta existence 'o th' phantom letter wh' only Master Starke hae alluded ta which wouldst hae a bearin' 'pon ta challenge t'wixt Master Starke an' Avery.
If'n indeed Master Starke wast aware ast early ast ta eighth day 'o ta fifth month th' Avery wouldst nae appear fer 'is challenge, one mus' ponder why anna announcement 'o a date th' they wouldst meet wouldst hae been made only ta be postponed. One must also ponder 'is reasons fer nae apprisin' 'is fellow Barons ast well ast Master Valentine Evermeadow if'n 'e wast aware ast early ast ta eighth day th' 'is challenge unta Avery wouldst nae proceed.
Ah shall again state then, where be th' phantom letter wh' be bein' referred ta? Tis naught bu' ta statements by Master Starke th' it indeed exists an' Master Starke's word ist nae somethin' Ah wouldst accept.
Baron Daelin,
Considerin' ta comments thee made wi' regard ta Avery th' eve 'pon ta Isle, ast well ast perhaps yuir inability ta comprehend ta written word, Ah see nae a thin' in ta missive writ by ta Lady Dansantes Evermeadow wh' hast a bearin' 'pon ta matter wi' respect ta th' challenge t'wixt Master Starke an' Avery save th' Avery wast, due ta unforeseen circumstances, nae able ta appear 'pon ta Isle. Indeed, Baron Dragonsblade, it wouldst appear ast Ah
stated, yuir grasp 'o facts an' ta sequence 'o events be a bit skewed.

Mystik,
Tis well thee normally keep yuirself from political discussions. Perhaps thee shouldst make th' a more firm 'abit.
Perhaps thee might wish ta take ta time ta peruse ta missives 'pon th' cork an' ta official lists ast well. Master Starke's challenge, if'n Ah am nae mistaken wast re-issued an' validated 'pon ta twenty seventh day 'o ta fourth month an' apparently answered an' accepted by ta Overlord 'pon ta fourth day 'o ta fifth month. Hae it nae been answered by ta fourth day, t'would hae been at th' moment considered an abdication 'o ta title.
Ta official standin's 'o ta duels didst announce ta match wast ta take place 'pon ta fourteenth day 'o ta fifth month, an one may opine th' ta date hae been agreed 'pon t'wixt Master Stark an' Avery Shiv Blade. If'n t'was nae anna such agreement t'wixt Avery an' Master Starke one mus' ponder then if'n Master Starke chose th' day unilaterally an' hae nae apprised ta Overlord, Avery Shiv Blade.
Ye may also take notice th' ta official standin's 'o Swords wh' didst contain ta announcement 'o th' date whereupon Avery wast ta meet Master Starke were made available after ta failure 'o Avery ta appear fer ta Archmage Tourney. Master Starke then placed a missive 'pon ta cork announcin' a postponement 'o th' match.
If'n ast well Ah am nae mistaken, ta date wh' Avery nae appeared fer 'is challenge 'pon ta Isle wast ta eighth day 'o ta fifth month. Therefore, one may conclude th' ta missive 'o which ye speak wast sent afore th' match.
One may then ponder, from ta sequence 'o events, why Avery made nae mention nor provision in 'is missive ta ta staff 'o ta Isle wi' respect ta 'is pendin' challenge wi' Master Starke. Or one may also ponder th' Avery didst in fact make mention unta Master Starke an ta official 'o ta Isle an' th' word wast nae sent unta Master Valentine Evermeadow an' ta Barons. Ah meself do find ta latter premise ta be one wi' little merit.
Ast certes thee shouldst know, makin' assumptions oft places ta one doin' ta assumin' in a position where in one be merely makin' a fool 'o oneself. Tis Ah believe th' notice 'o ta delay 'o Master Starke's meetin' wi' Avery wast placed 'pon ta cork well after Avery hae nae appeared fer 'is challenge 'pon ta Isle an' afore ta Lady Dansantes didst pronounce Melgarth Mithmellon ast ta new Archmage.

Sartan,
My understanding of the matter was that Avery had written to Val a note that simply stated he would be unable to appear. I do not recall anything about a request to extend the time frame. It is very possible, however, that I do not have fully accurate facts on this.
As to the rest, since you are aligned renegade it doesn't apply very well to you.

Jonalyn,
I am sorry, but I find myself unable to respond to your note. My intent is not to be rude, but I simply cannot understand enough of it to be certain I am responding to the correct sections and not missing any relevant points. Perhaps, if you hand write it rather than relying on your animated quill, the content would be more clear.

Jonalyn,
My apologies. I do not believe I made any comment regarding anything save the events of the title of ArchMage changing bearers. The events of the Overlord Challenge were not the matter I sought to clarify. Again, my apologies that in clarifying the events, which I was indeed part of as the Assistant Supervisor of the Duel of Magic as well as the official that was to have verified the challenge, has infringed upon your vision of those events.
My effort was to make clearer an event which has been mentioned and misrepresented several times in the missives regarding Drey's challenge to Avery on this cork. Unfortunately, that clarification cannot be left without resorting to an attempt at belittling. As for participating in political discussion, Lady, that is my right as a member of the Duel of Swords Community. That I choose not to do so for the most part is a matter of personal
preferance. Politics are something I have little choice but to deal within my homeland. Here, I choose to refrain from the ceasless, senseless personalizations of debate. Thankfully in SilverHawk, debate is kept to the matter, the issue, at hand.

>ta new Archmage.
In regards to the above ponderings, I would offer that, if I am reading your jottings correctly, since the missive to the Supervisors of the Isle concerned matters pretaining to the Isle, why would he include information regarding his challenge with Drey, which is Duel of Swords business?
Val was indeed told that Avery had sent word that he would be unable to defend the title of ArchMage. Further issue with that is not in my frame of knowledge as I was not privy to any correspondance or conversation between Avery and Val. As far as not notifying the Barons, several of the Barons did know that Avery had not attended the ArchMage challenge and had sent word that he would be unable to defend. I should think that with that knowledge,
should they feel it relevant, that they would be able to distribute that information through their ranks. I was unaware that the Duel of Magic staff had need to inform the Supervisor of the Duel of Swords and the Barons of the details regarding a challenge on the Isle. I would say that above the fact being mentioned and annoucements being posted in view of all who cared to look, that the Isle staff fulfilled their obligations, especially considering
that the challenge in the DoS had very little to do with the one in DoM save that the same title holder was absent. Should we have notified the staff of the Duel of Fists as well, since Avery also held title there? That would be akin to saying that notification of absence on the part of each title holder should be rushed via courier to the other sports because they did not attend one challenge, so they may not attend any pending in their sport as
well. That, Lady, would be making an assumption. It is not the staff's duties to attend to such matters, it is the duty of the title holder themself.
As for the letter Drey refers to, that would not be something that I can or will attempt to debate or address past saying that mayhap you should have addressed that question to Drey himself rather than as part of your response to me.

Mystik,
Perhaps thee nae recall yuir own jottings. Thee didst indeed make comment upon matters with respect to the challenge made unto Avery Shiv Blade by Master Starke.
Thee stated that thee assumed that Drey's missive, this phantom missive, wast received 'pon th' same date that the Isle staff didst receive word. Thine assumption hast nae merit.
Certes, thee be free ta state yuir opinions, Madame, howe'er, rest assured, t'was nae need fer thee ta make anna clarifications of the events what took place 'pon the Isle. The Lady Dansantes Evermeadow didst that precise thing, most ably.
Madame, considering yuir less than adroit ability in the arena of political matters outside Silver Hawk, tis I must express some pity for those what must deal with thee there with regard to internal political matters. Perhaps thee might consider taking up knitting, Madame, the political arena seems to be somewhat beyond yuir capabilities.
Further, in making query if Master Valentine Evermeadow, he wast indeed apprised of his mother's decision in the matter of the Archmage's title.
In the matter of the adjudication of the title of Archmage, I shall also state that tis well the matter wast in the hands of the Lady Dansantes Evermeadow and nae within yuir purview, considering thee may hae some bias with respect to yuir ongoing romantic entanglement with the new Arch Mage, Melgath Mithmellon.
Since it be patently clear, Madame, that thee hae apparently nae grasped the situation or circumstances, thee shall forgive me if I find yuir comments neither enlightening, intelligent, well researched nor do they impart any information what hast nae already been long available to the communty.

Lady Starfare,
How exactly is this paragraph relevant to the point being debated? I constantly find in your rebuttals seemingly unnecessary tears on individuals that do not need to be said in order to debate the topic. What is the point of such personal degrading in a debate? I find your interest and pursuit of debatable topics admirable, I just don't see why these kinds of things need to be included.
